Philosophy of Education

  • All children deserve the best education their society can provide.  Students should be treated with respect and consideration.  They deserve a safe and fun learning environment where they can explore their world.

  • Teachers need to create classroom environments that encourage students to think on their own and invent their own ways of solving problems. When students are forced to construct their own knowledge with the guidance of a thoughtful teacher, they will learn more material and they will learn that material better. To this end, teachers need to create activities that will guide students to new and more advanced thinking.

  • Research has shown that students learn in different ways and an effective teacher has to go the extra mile to make sure that material is presented in different ways so all children are given the best opportunity to learn. This includes using different teaching techniques, incorporating a multi-cultural curriculum, and developing a classroom management plan that will allow all students to learn to the best of their abilities.

  •   I believe an important aspect of such a plan is keeping kids engaged in the curriculum and holding them responsible for their actions. Respect is one of the most important elements  in the classroom.
